ABOUT
Having grown up around the fashion industry, Christie knew she wanted to be a designer since she was 12 years old. She had always been fascinated by the designers she met, their show rooms, and the process involved in creating and refining a garment before it is taken to production.
Christie studied in the Fashion Design Program at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, and during her time there, she was able to work in and gain knowledge of many different facets of fashion design; from swimwear, to woman's contemporary sportswear, to menswear, and even costume design. Their rigorous program was invaluable in preparing her for this extremely competitive field.
Almost immediately after graduating from Otis, Christie moved across the country to Philadelphia to start her new career at Anthropologie, where she would design for the Tailored Wovens team. With her love of tailoring, she played an important role in helping to grow and evolve the Tailored Wovens business into an exciting, fashion forward, yet totally accessible and vital business for Anthropologie.
Some of Christie's most exciting accomplishments at Anthropologie were the launch the new "Essential Pants", which are 5 expertly tailored and exquisitely fabricated pants that the Anthropologie customer can pick up all year around, and was also the first "by Anthropologie" label to be delivered to the store. This lead to the growth of the "Essentials by Anthropologie" label in the company across other categories. She also played a pivotal roll in the growth of the jumpsuit business by pushing silhouettes, fabrications, and embellishments to new and inspiring levels.
After nearly 6 years with the Anthropologie company, Christie began to pursue the next chapter in her career by becoming a Professor in the Fashion Design Program at Moore College of Art & Design and Jefferson University + Philadelphia University in Philadelphia. During this time, Christie was able to flex her creativity as well as her leadership skills while teaching a range of classes from 20th Century Fashion History to CAD, Fashion Illustration, and Senior Collection.
After spending nearly 8 years in Philadelphia, Christie returned to Southern California where she started her own sustainable design brand, FUND Apparel. With FUND, Christie created a fashion forward line of twisted basics and repurposed denim using all up-cycled materials while also giving back 20% of proceeds to underfunded communities monthly, giving purpose to her practice.
